Take Five/Four

Legendary jazz pianist and innovator Dave Brubeck died today; he was one day shy of his 92nd birthday.

Rest in peace Mr Brubeck.

I am sitting by the wood stove listening to all my Brubeck. I am glad someone else out there is also thinking about him. When I was a teenager and heard “Blue Rondo ala Turk”, I was transformed. It was also Wes Montgomery, Louis, Fats Waller, and so many others but Brubeck and Desmond’s time signature were a tempo I could understand. Cheers
