Since Kennecott was a company town, with a ban on both alcohol and the world’s oldest profession, McCarthy arose along the rail line approximately five miles away. Like most mining towns, it’s had its boom & bust days. Today, it’s a quirky, little, end-of-the-road community surrounded by some of the most incredibly beautiful country on the planet.
